Happiness and glass, how easily it breaks! On May 7, 1945, Marion and Hannelore are born in the women's clinic on Munich's Maistrasse. Although they come from very different backgrounds, they grow up like sisters and are inseparable. However, when Marion falls in love on her twenty-second birthday, their friendship shatters. As the Cold War escalates, students take to the streets, and the first communes emerge, their paths separate for good. The headstrong Marion becomes a successful model but finds no happiness in love. Hannelore studies law to become a lawyer, but life has other plans for her. Decades later, on May 7, 2015, they want to celebrate their seventieth birthday together - but can time heal all wounds?.
