Glossar der Gegenwart 2.0

In 2004, the Glossary of the Present was published. According to the editors, a total of 44 entries examined concepts of "medium range" but high strategic function, which occupy a key position in current debates.

Twenty years later, after the global financial crisis and in light of the rise of right-wing populist parties as well as the now clearly noticeable effects of climate change, it is time for an update. Today's contemporaries recognize themselves in new key terms: "Disruption" replaces "Normality," "the Planetary" takes the place of "Globalization," and "Resilience" replaces "Prevention." Other terms such as "Decolonization" or "Post-truth" have no equivalent in the previous volume. The contributions written for the 2.0 version of the glossary serve as probes to ascertain the self-understanding of our present.
