The question of happiness connects people across distant times and vast spaces. It seems to be part of human nature to desire a happy life. From ancient virtue ethics to modern pursuits of happiness and contemporary concepts, theology and philosophy repeatedly ask: What is happiness? What makes life good? Is happiness found within me or outside of me? Is there happiness in misfortune? If happiness comes from God, how is He present for those who are suffering? This volume documents the lectures from the 26th annual conference of the Rudolf Bultmann Society for Hermeneutical Theology, featuring contributions from T. Erne, H.-P. Grosshans, A. F. Koch, M. Köhlmoos, B. Müller, and N. Neumann, along with workshop reports from J. Baumann, K. Gessner, L. Hille, and B.
