Glamour Collection Lothar Schirmer

Glamour photography is the highest form of photography as an applied art. It is a sub-area of portrait photography, nude photography and fashion photography. For a selected circle of clients (and customers), it requires the greatest creative and technical effort to achieve excellent results, be it for the world stars of film and politics.It is for the world stars of film and politics, for the genre of erotic photography, which is constantly changing with the spirit of the times, or for the top achievements of the fashion designers and couturiers of the respective epoch. This has been the case ever since photography existed.
Glamour photography works with special employees in addition to the photographers: hair artists, make-up artists, stylists, outfitters and lighting technicians of all kinds. In this sense, it is also a subdivision of advertising for eccentric personalities and products. The beauty industry is, so to speak, a client with unlimited material means and corresponding aesthetic results.
Our anthology shows the most beautiful pictures that came to my attention during the publishing work and that I wanted to secure for my private collection, but also for the cover design of future Schirmer/Mosel books. In total, this book brings together 80 famous photographs by 46 photographers. Writers, art historians, exhibition curators, fashion designers, journalists - professionals of every stripe - have written literary miniatures for most of these images that are as entertaining as they are knowledgeable.
Isabella Rossellini, herself a model, film star, fashion icon and friend, has written a small, personal essay on the collection, in which she and her friend Madonna frequently appear. My text explains the motifs and varieties of this collection. Many celebrities, from Andy Warhol to Cindy Sherman to Marilyn Monroe, greet with a wink. Lothar Schirmer.
