Gewichtsreduktion bei rauchentwöhnten und rauchenden Übergewichtigen

This scientific work deals with the relationships between smoking and body weight. The findings are presented in the first main part of the thesis. In particular, the possible causes that are attributed to the phenomenon of weight gain after quitting smoking are discussed, from biochemical and behavioral perspectives. Subsequently, the results from already successful interventions for smoking cessation and weight reduction are summarized. Based on the insights gained, I develop a multi-intervention program aimed at allowing weight reduction while simultaneously quitting smoking. The goal of this work is to design a controlled intervention study for the University Hospital of Münster, where the new program can be tested. In this way, it will be investigated whether there are indeed differences in weight reduction between smokers and those who have quit smoking. For this purpose, I will detail the individual steps that are important for conducting a study.
