Violence among school children is undoubtedly a very old phenomenon. The fact that some children are frequently and systematically bullied and attacked by other children has been described in literature, and many adults have experience of this from their own school days. In recent years this problem has become much more acute. The Norwegian Olweus has developed an intervention programme that can help. What is the right pedagogical response to victims of violence? How can violence be counteracted at school, in class and in conflict with individual pupils? The demonstrably successful programme is now being used in many schools in the Scandinavian countries, in Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland.
