How do anger, indignation, contempt, but also hope, confidence and love influence our health? Dresden cardiologist Prof. Albrecht Hempel has investigated this fascinating question. Feelings do not have a good reputation in classical orthodox medicine: we should rather stick to measured values and precise scientifically verifiable findings. Prof. Hempel has come to completely different conclusions in his everyday practice. In his view, the importance of feelings in determining whether we are healthy or ill is underestimated far too much. He explains what feelings are, why and how they arise, and when we should listen to them. Our feelings function according to certain principles and are therefore controllable. Therefore - and this is the good news - we can do a lot ourselves to grow out of a passive "victim role" into a powerful, healthy and happy life. We should not repress difficult feelings such as fear, sadness or anger, but learn to understand them and transform them into positive ones. Prof. Hempel shows: Those who "educate" their feelings properly can use them as the key to self-healing.
