Geschwisterbeziehungen

Sibling relationships are often the longest relationships a person has. Today, they are increasingly less governed by traditional values and norms, but as a result, they have also become more contradictory. This calls for an individual and conscious engagement with one's own siblings, with whom a relationship must or can be established throughout one's lifespan. This includes not only full and twin siblings but also a growing number of half-siblings, step-siblings, blended family siblings, foster siblings, and adoptive siblings. From various theoretical perspectives, the book supports the reflection on sibling relationships and places them in the context of therapy and counseling. It focuses on general factors that influence sibling relationships as well as events that present particular challenges to the development of the sibling.
