Geschichtsphilosophie zur Einführung

Philosophy of history deals with the question of what experiences we have had with the past, what orientations we can derive from it for the present, and what we may expect for the future. Does history have a meaning? Does history even exist? And how is historical knowledge possible? To answer such questions, three types of historical thinking and their most important representatives are presented: the philosophy of history from the Enlightenment to Hegel, the historicism of the 19th century, and the so-called post-history from the 20th century to the present. The conclusion of the volume attempts to synthesize these major orientations.
