Geschichtskulturelle Transformationen

History is omnipresent in the public eye and often highly controversial. Historical culture is therefore not a monolithic entity, but an expression of heterogeneous needs for orientation and identity. Various actors in the culture of history constantly confront us with the historical, putting competing historical interpretations up for discussion and contributing to the fact that concepts of history are constantly changing. These transformation processes affect not only certain topics, concepts, and categories, but also the self-image of historiography as an academic discipline in the field of tension between science, politics, and the public sphere. This volume focuses on areas of historical culture that have undergone particularly strong transformations in recent times. It highlights the controversies that have arisen, as well as the actors and contemporary practices that are part of these changes.
