Geschichten aus einem iranischen Dorf - Tante Khorshid erinnert sich

Roya (Roghayeh) Rahmani, an Iranian woman living in Germany since 2012 and born in 1978 in a village in western Iran, describes the life of a woman who died in 1990—as if this old woman herself were telling her life story to young Roya, who brought fresh sheep's milk from her parents' farm to the elderly woman more often. 'Aunt' Khorshid came from a union that was not desired by either side of her parents, that of a Christian Armenian woman and a Mohammedan Turk. The mother of little Khorshid, Sanam, suffers from fleeing the Ottoman persecution of Armenians; Khorshid herself must also experience the loss of her homeland as a child due to a natural disaster. Life holds more horrors than beautiful moments for her.

In her narrative, the author uses the memories of 'Aunt' Khorshid, which she heard as a child in the 1980s, later research in her hometown and with relatives and friends, and then the author also employs her imagination where the 'data' is less densely woven. Writing this story helped the author through times when the German state did not allow her to work. Through writing, the author was able to revive early skills; she had already written plays as a teenager in her homeland that were performed at the high school in the city of Ashtian; her dream was to become a presenter and actress. An academically trained artist from Iran, who refers to himself as 'Artist Soleymani' due to the commonality of his last name, aims to make the childlike experiences of little Khorshid palpable through his drawings.
