Geschichte der deutschen Lyrik

The period since the end of World War II is one of the most diverse in the history of poetry: Günter Eich's sparse rubble poems became popular, and Gottfried Benn emerged as one of the most influential poets with his poems and his speech "Problems of Poetry." Ingeborg Bachmann, Paul Celan, Ernst Jandl, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, Peter Rühmkorf, Durs Grünbein, and Thomas Kling later shaped this diverse landscape. Hermann Korte succeeds in revealing the complexity of these various movements (including poetry in the GDR) in a very compact space.
