Product details
A business process model is a structured graphical representation of business processes, aimed at making these processes as intuitively understandable as possible. But how can such visualization be automated? Conventional methods of graph drawing are only partially suitable for this purpose; therefore, this book develops an algorithm that lays out module nets, a form of Petri nets. The author describes the entire process of developing a software module that takes an abstract description of a module net and generates an SVG graphic of the net through a multi-step procedure. In addition to foundational knowledge of graph theory and Petri nets, this book outlines the development process of the algorithms for automatic graph drawing based on the identified layout criteria for business process models, as well as the implementation of the software module. The book is aimed not only at all those interested in automatic graph drawing but particularly at software developers who are involved in laying out business process models.
