Gesamteuropa

This anthology examines the possibilities and limitations for the creation of a united Europe based on recent historical developments. The aim of the volume is to provide a solid and comprehensive foundation for future discussions, serving as a kind of handbook that is useful for students and scholars as well as for politicians and scientists. Those who wish to engage with the complex issues of the pan-European development process have previously had to rely on analyses that were available more or less randomly. This volume aims to help fill those gaps. The term "pan-Europe" is diffuse. It can be defined geographically, politically, culturally, and socially, but it can also be understood as a vision for the integration of the two formerly antagonistic halves of the continent. The West can no longer be seen as separate.
