According to Max Weber, science does not offer the whole of the world. It cannot tell us what to do. It does not create virtue, it does not put the disenchanted world in order, and its orientation is also something ever relative. But if this is the case with the "value freedom" of science, what does it do that is positive for practical and personal life, Weber asks and answers: Science provides us with three indispensable cultural achievements; "Knowledge of technology, how to master life, external things, as well as human actions, by calculation. Second: methods of thinking, the tools of the trade and the training to do so. Third: help towards clarity." So we can only survive if we remain committed to science: considering its limitations, using its objectivity "passionately". Mathias Jung.
