Stefan Moses is one of the most renowned contemporary German photographers. He celebrated his 85th birthday on August 29, 2013. He first gained wider recognition in 1967 with the photo book 'Manuel,' which narrated the childhood of his son and expressed a new vision of youth, liberal education, and an open society through its unconventional imagery. Moses photographed for all major newspapers and magazines, including Magnum, Der Spiegel, Stern, Zeit-Magazin, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, and others. His series 'Deutsche. Porträts der sechziger Jahre' (1980) and its counterpart 'Abschied und Anfang. Ostdeutsche Porträts 1989-1990' (1991) are lasting historical documents. His unparalleled humor is reflected in the book 'Das Tier und sein Mensch' (1997).
