Geochemical Distribution of Trace Elements in Iraqi Soils

The book "Geochemical Distribution of Trace Elements in Iraqi Soils" provides comprehensive information on the geochemical distribution of 13 trace elements in the soils and recent sediments of Iraq. Based on the analysis of over 21,000 samples systematically collected from the desert and Mesopotamian regions of the country, it offers valuable data on the geochemical backgrounds and baseline values. These regions account for more than 70% of Iraq's area and are among the driest areas in the world, characterized by immature soils and saline river deposits. The main objective of this publication is to provide reliable information on the concentration, spatial distribution, and geochemical affinity of the analyzed elements. Additionally, it discusses the factors influencing the background and baseline values, such as parent rocks, climate, pedogenesis, soil structure, and mineralogy. The results are of great significance for understanding soil geochemistry in arid regions.
