Untouched nature and vibrant cities with a fairy-tale or legendary past await you on your cycling tour along the rivers Eder and Diemel. Starting from their sources in the Rothaar Mountains, you will follow the river courses to their mouths, passing through the UNESCO World Heritage site in the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, the Diemelsee Nature Park, or the Reinhardswald Nature Park. With a bit of luck, you may spot the largest land mammal in Europe, the European bison, in the forests along the Eder. At the same time, you can enjoy the medieval charm of the half-timbered towns along the Eder and Diemel, while walking in the footsteps of some of the Brothers Grimm's fairy-tale characters: Rapunzel's tower is now part of Trendelburg overlooking the Diemel, and the real-life inspiration for Snow White is said to have once lived in Friedrichstein Castle in Bad Wildungen. A scenic route between the Diemel and Eder is provided by a ride along the Fulda and Weser rivers. The highlight here is undoubtedly the documenta city of Kassel.
