Product details
Whether for hygienic, medical or religious reasons, for mere pleasure, refreshment or relaxation - bathing has always been one of the central needs of mankind. The first public bathing facilities accessible to the entire population were already built by the ancient Greeks. Following their example, the Romans, who were eager to expand, soon exchanged their bathing in the Tiber for a comfortable visit to magnificent thermal baths. Their love of the beneficial bath was also expressed in their numerous provinces - including the south of today's Bavaria - with the construction of true swimming temples. The historic bathing sites listed in the Bavarian monument list are essential testimonies to our cultural history and are diverse in terms of their design and function: architectural treasures stand alongside purely functional buildings such as shower and bath tub baths, rivers.
