Genese und Rezeption der Theorie der kategorialen Bildung von Wolfgang Klafki

Wolfgang Klafki is one of the central German educational scientists of the second half of the 20th century. His dissertation published in 1959 on 'The Educational Problem of the Elementary and the Theory of Categorical Bildung' established him immediately among the leading figures in the educational science of the young Federal Republic. It remains largely unknown to this day that and to what extent he had already developed his theory of categorical Bildung in his state examination thesis from 1951, which was only published in 2013. Manuel Hermes's study starts from that earliest work of Klafki and traces the genesis of the theory of categorical Bildung in its original emergence and immanent development from 1951 to 2007. Following this, Hermes examines the educational scientific and didactic reception of the theory of categorical Bildung. Thus, he presents an indispensable standard work for any future research on the topic.
