Our world is becoming increasingly digital, especially the younger generation spends a large part of their time online, engaging in an extensive self-presentation. The individual becomes a performer, their life a never-ending show on social networks, ideally in the form of a series of highlights - constantly on the hunt for likes, attention, and applause. However, the staged life on the internet comes at a price: the selfie generation lives their life not for themselves, but for others, selling themselves to the public, willingly giving up privacy and individuality - and in the pursuit of the next like, possibly also their integrity. Journalists Eva Oer and Christian Cohrs subject the self-absorbed and sensationalist selfie generation to a ruthless analysis. What sacrifices do we make for our digital popularity?.
