Gender Vielfalt Sexualität(en) im Fach Deutsch als Fremd- und Zweitsprache

Although gender is considered a central category of bipolar social differentiation lines, it has so far received little attention in the research and teaching of German as a foreign and second language. What challenges do teachers, researchers, and learners face in this context? What impulses and changes are necessary to enable conscious gender-sensitive and gender-appropriate (language) actions in the second and foreign language German? The answers to these questions are as diverse as they are open to individual solutions – which is also reflected in the gaps in the title Gender_Diversity_Sexuality(ies) and in the name of the volume: Gender eludes a simple assignment of meaning and must always be considered in the context of its inherent diversity, complexity, and above all, incompleteness. The contributions in this volume approach the topic of gender from linguistic and cultural studies, from language, literature, and cultural didactics, as well as from school pedagogy perspectives. They range from considerations of (linguistic) representations of gender and the resulting implications and action possibilities in various institutional educational contexts to methods such as queering or literary approaches and suggestions for depoliticizing gender. Additionally, there are discussions of multimodal media such as picture books, which are linked to possible analytical tools for uncovering (intersectional) categories of discrimination.
