Gegen die Spielregeln

In the London Docklands, the boiler of a sailing steamer explodes. The managing director of the shipping line and an American engineer lose their lives in the incident. Inspector Orville Baker suspects a design flaw, but then dynamite is discovered.

For the young investigator, the case becomes an odyssey: there is no evidence, but a multitude of motives. Additionally, Baker has helpers he did not choose: Ryon Buchanan, a half-Indian and son of the engineer, and the niece of a suspect, Alessa Arlington, who rebels against societal norms and dreams of studying. Together, they embark on the search for the perpetrator.
