Product details
Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-1273) is one of the most significant Islamic mystics and, alongside the revered Hafiz by Goethe, one of the greatest masters of Persian poetry. Originally from the northern part of present-day Afghanistan, Rumi fled with his family to Konya in modern-day Turkey, where he encountered the mysterious wandering dervish Shamsuddin. This mystic, in whom God Himself manifested for Rumi, inspired him to create ecstatic love poetry filled with intoxicating imagery and a captivating musical language. The entire world of appearances, especially blooming spring gardens, became a symbol for him of the "Coming of the Friend.".
