Gastlichkeit und Gemeinschaft

In this study, Arne-Florian Bachmann examines hospitality as a guiding metaphor of the Christian faith and as an orientation aid for a Christian way of life and social form in late modernity. Starting from a biblical-theological history of the motif of hospitality, he examines relevant theologies and relates them to current challenges in the area of religious community-building. These are brought into dialogue with central voices of continental social philosophy with a focus on phenomenology and deconstruction. Finally, he develops his own article on a theological theory of community that is based on hospitality, feeds on cruciform theological motifs and invites us to an extraordinary community in the midst of the conflicts of the social world.
