Gartenhäuser im Rheinland

In recent decades, the LVR Office for Monument Preservation in the Rhineland has documented numerous garden houses and, in some cases, has accompanied their restoration. Renaissance houses, baroque pavilions, neoclassical round temples, and foreign architectures, as well as buildings in the Bergisch style, historicism, or modernity, reflect the history of architecture and gardens. Most of these small structures are still in use today, with many being lovingly maintained or passionately restored by their owners. However, others are acutely endangered due to neglect and vandalism. This book honors the diverse genre of precious small architectures through more than 90 examples found in smaller and larger gardens in or around the city, monastery gardens, expansive parks, or even the open countryside. It invites readers on a journey to wonderful locations in the Rhineland.
