Product details

Gardens as places of social coexistence, dreaming, learning, and representation. For years, gardens have been experiencing a renaissance. Particularly young people are increasingly turning to gardening, whether in community gardens, through guerrilla gardening in vacant lots and along urban highways, or in the vegetable garden behind their homes. This trend has significantly intensified under the conditions of the Corona pandemic. However, the garden is much more than just a place for production or retreat. It is a space where social coexistence is exemplarily manifested and consolidated, especially in light of the challenges posed by climate change and migration due to poverty. It is a place where people create a space to politically (re)present themselves, dream, and learn. This volume aims to make some of these garden forms visible, from the ancient Kepos to the Indian garden and the garden utopias that harbor both radical critique and educational potential. The texts were created on the occasion of the Federal Garden Show 2021 in Erfurt.
