Une histoire d'amour qui finit mal (les nuits blanches) et, dans le sous-sol, un de ces superbes maniaco-dépressifs comme Dostoïevski sut les inventer avant que freud les mît à la mode : je suis un homme malade... je suis un homme méchant. je suis un homme déplaisant. je crois que j'ai une maladie de foie. d'ailleurs je ne comprends absolument rien à ma maladie et ne sais même pas au juste où j'ai mal. I don't feel well and I'm not well at all. if I don't feel well, it's just pure morbidity on my part. I know very well that it's not the doctors that I'm afraid of by refusing to sign me up. I'm not doing anything but harming myself; I understand it better than anyone else. and, of course, it's only by chance that I don't sign up. I'm having a bad time at home! so much better !!!.
