The head of the Munich Security Conference on Germany's new role in the world Christoph Heusgen, head of the Munich Security Conference since February 2022, shows in his book what needs to happen for Germany to play a new, active role in the world. The former security advisor to Angela Merkel and UN ambassador from 2017 to 2021 has accompanied German foreign policy over the last fifteen years like no other - in view of the turning point caused by the war in Ukraine, he now argues in favour of a new German course in foreign policy. We need to change the way we think about foreign policy: Because the systemic competition is no longer between West and East, but between force and law. And Germany must assume a self-confident leadership role in this struggle.
