When is non-violence right and when is it permissible or even required to react with counter-violence? What standards apply to the use of legitimate counter-violence? These and other complicated questions on the topic of peace and armed conflict are discussed in this book from an ethical point of view with special consideration of the Christian tradition. On the one hand, the author deals with the socio-ethical foundations and approaches the topic historically; on the other hand, he outlines a contemporary conception of peace and conflict ethics in the field of political ethics and how to deal with ethical challenges.
