Product details

Fanatics are currently the greatest danger on the entire globe - as terrorists they wage war against certain groups because of their faith or skin color, as suicide bombers they indiscriminately murder individuals to testify to their faith and/or for media attention. Amos Oz, who grew up in Jerusalem, became a writer on a kibbutz, and is active in the "Peace-Now", has become an "expert on comparative fanaticism" on the basis of his personal experience: in his books he explores its abysses, as a commentator he fights it politically, and as a person affected by it he asks himself and others the question of how one can become a fanatic. The three essays in this volume, therefore, come neither from a researcher nor from an expert; they are based on the existential consternation of the author, his experiences in daily interaction as well as in anal.
