Sandra A. Habeck empirically investigates the field of volunteer management and demonstrates that it is an area of adult education. The study provides nuanced insights into the tasks, issues, and challenges of volunteer management from various stakeholder perspectives (supervisors, volunteers, volunteer managers). It highlights organizational backgrounds and identifies three forms of volunteer work and volunteer management (leading volunteer staff, personal relationship work, pedagogically guided collaboration). The study is situated within the context of adult education professional and organizational research. From the findings, a multitude of theoretical, research-related, and practical reflection points and guidance options can be derived.
