For 50 years, the birth control pill has been considered the safest contraceptive method in Germany. It is still celebrated as a milestone for women's emancipation and independence. But what happens when we question these certainties? Is the pill really that indispensable? Does it truly make us women more self-determined? How can it be that we think about healthy eating, fair-trade clothing, and cosmetics without animal testing, yet we take hormones every day without much thought, hormones whose long-term effects on our bodies and minds are still not fully understood?
