Julia Child became acquainted with French cuisine while living in France in the 1950s with her husband, diplomat Paul Child. Upon returning to the USA, she co-authored the seminal work "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" with Simone Beck and Louisette Bertholle. It became a bestseller and even earned the author her own television show, reaching millions of viewers. Since then, the book has been regarded as a classic and has had a significant influence on numerous chefs of the next generation. Long overdue, it is now being published in German for the first time, translated by Ulrike Becker.
