Product details

This volume summarizes my nearly three years of research on SS Major General Franz Mueller-Darss. Mueller came from a forestry family on the edge of Eichsfeld, was drilled in the cadet schools of Plön and Lichterfelde, participated in World War I, was a member of a Freikorps in what was then Silesia, and from 1924 worked as a forestry official in Born a. Darss. A member of the SS since 1936, he made a rapid career in the inner circle of SS Reich Leader Heinrich Himmler. In the summer of 1945, he fled from Born to Hamburg with the help of locals, was briefly captured by the British, and managed to achieve his complete rehabilitation in 1949 through an appeal in the denazification process. It is likely that the Gehlen Organization, the predecessor of the Federal Intelligence Service, which he had been a part of since late 1948, assisted him in this. After his complete exposure by the Polish secret service, Mueller had to move to Lenggries in Bavaria, where he died in 1976. Franz Mueller-Darss, the personal representative of the RFSS for dog breeding in Himmler's personal staff, who was responsible for the training of all concentration camp and police dogs from Oranienburg, was never brought to trial. I wrote this book in memory of the people who had to work for Mueller-Darss in Born a. Darss at the risk of their lives: Sinti and Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Russian prisoners of war.
