Product details
Franz Josef Burda, born 150 years ago in Offenburg, grew up as a child with an immigrant background. Due to his ancestry, he was Austrian and had to fight for years to obtain Baden citizenship. After the early death of his father, the family lived on welfare and in constant fear of being deported. He compensates for the imperfection of his life, both professionally and privately, and his longing for his homeland with his love of music and his joy and talent for entertaining people. The invention of radio and the first official radio programme in Germany 100 years ago changed his life. The book printer founds the "Sürag-Verlag" publishing house and publishes the "Südwestdeutsche Radio-Zeitung". This marks the birth of today's internationally active media group Hubert Burda Media.
