Product details
The Berlin Airlift of 1948/49 was pivotal for the history of Germany in the second half of the 20th century and marked the beginning of a development that ultimately led to the fall of the Wall in November 1989. In particular, the airlift to overcome the Soviet blockade of Berlin was a unique logistical achievement of the Western powers. The contributions in this symposium volume from experts from Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria, Russia, and the USA not only address the event, its planning, and execution, but also the culture of remembrance that has emerged from it. They are intended to revise some notions of the history of the Berlin Airlift.
