Product details

Francesco, St. Francis, the poor man of Assisi, appeared at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries as an outstanding figure in the history of Christianity, as impressive as he was impulsive. There is no doubt that even today he belongs to the circle of those who are known and appreciated for their spiritual significance even outside the Church. As a man of love for God as well as for man, he, the enthusiastic lover of the "Lady Poverty" (Donna povertá) of the Poverello and poet of the "Canticle of the Sun", gave exemplary expression to his brotherly relationship with the elements of the earth as well as with all creatures. Thus he is considered by innumerable people as one of the dearest, - as Rilke says: "the most intimate and loving of all" - the most human and therefore the most credible saint.
