Georg loved his snuff tobacco. When he couldn't find his snuff box right away, he became nervous. Who has taken my snuff tobacco again? We boys wanted to sneak a pinch of snuff when no one was watching. The biting aroma of the tobacco rose so intensely from our noses to our brains that we both couldn't suppress our 'achoo' and started sneezing uncontrollably. Grandfather laughed. "See, it really gets into the sinuses of your noses." Today, we had betrayed ourselves. A few days later, we wanted to try the experiment again. We grabbed the box that was lying on the windowsill and hid in the barn. I closed my eyes and took a good pinch of the tempting substance. Suppressing the sneeze was impossible. Then it was my brother's turn. However, when we heard the barn door creak, we became completely silent, and Grandpa moved back outside. "Where is my snuff tobacco box?" we heard him muttering to himself. We sneaked into his room and placed the seemingly vital box on his open desk. Grandfather was now searching everywhere. In his workshop, in the goat shed, next to the rabbit hutch. Finally, he stumbled into his room. He searched here for so long until he found his homemade cow horn box. After a long search, he spotted his beloved tobacco containers. He had crafted his uniquely beautiful snuff tobacco box from a cattle horn. The one-of-a-kind piece belonged to him like his waistcoat pocket, where he always kept dried fruit. Hutzeln and tobacco were his weaknesses. In the bottom of the box, he inserted a slice of walnut wood. He also made a lid from the same material for the top of his valuable container. He fashioned the lid slightly conically so that it fit snugly on the opening of the box. The precious tobacco should not be spilled, after all.
