Product details

For a long time, it was assumed that Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) only affects children. However, numerous research findings now demonstrate that the disorder can persist into adulthood. It manifests, for example, in concentration problems, difficulties in accurately assessing the available time, and making impulsive decisions regarding spending money, work, and social activities. This volume provides information on current diagnostic procedures and describes multimodal therapy.

After a description of the disorder's profile, models for explaining and maintaining the disorder are presented. The book extensively addresses the diagnostics of ADHD in adulthood. Various diagnostic procedures are outlined, along with the specific challenges and issues in diagnosing ADHD in adults. Subsequently, the individual components of a multimodal therapy for ADHD are described. This combines evidence-based psychotherapeutic strategies with pharmacological approaches. Practically oriented cognitive-behavioral strategies are presented for treating problems in performance and emotional areas, as well as issues on social and interpersonal levels and behavioral problems.
