Product details

Every religion has a form and a content. The content possesses all rights, as it originates from the Absolute; the form is relative, and its rights are thus limited. Frithjof Schuon (1907-1998) is regarded in many parts of the world as one of the most significant writers on religious philosophy of the 20th century. He is considered a leading representative of the school of thought known as Sophia perennis (perennial wisdom), which contains the timeless and universally valid principles underlying the various teachings, symbols, sacred art, and spiritual practices of the world’s religions.

This book initially addresses the metaphysical necessity of the diversity of religions and their concrete manifestations. A focal point is the comparison between Christianity and Islam. For instance, the Quran's perspective on Jesus and Mary is presented. Other topics include metaphysics—particularly theodicy—as well as challenges in dealing with sacred texts and questions of eschatology.

The book is aimed at individuals seeking a spiritually grounded understanding of the world and their own lives, an understanding that transcends the answers provided by modern sciences or religions understood only in an exoteric manner. It can lead to liberating insights and deeper certainty.
