Product details
The food crisis in 2007/2008 presented the international community with new major challenges. Instead of moving closer to realizing the goals of the World Food Summits, they once again receded into the distant future. At the same time, foreign investors' interest in agricultural land and the resources located on it accelerated immensely in the wake of the crisis. Some actors see this development as highly dangerous, while others advocate it as an opportunity for food security. This thesis deals with the relationship between the prevailing food security strategies of selected organizations in the wake of the food crisis, first and foremost the World Bank, and the so-called land grabbing phenomenon. In the first and second part of this thesis, the food crisis is discussed in more detail and the concept of food security is introduced.
