Focus on more recent reformed confessions

Reformed confessional writings are theological sources of a special kind. This is especially true of the multitude of contemporary confessions. They are characterized by their self-understanding as interpretations and confessions of faith in a particular situation. This situation is constitutive for the respective presentation of what is believed. The conditionality of religious speech as well as the knowledge of it are inherent in the confessional texts. They are always confronted with ideas of universally valid truth in need of mediation. The authors address this tense relationship between normativity and site conditionality. The volume combines studies on current questions of the hermeneutics of Reformed confessions as well as case studies on individual confessional texts.
