When a male corpse, sunk with an anchor, is fished out of the sea, Detective Inspector Hal Challis would prefer to leave the case to someone else. He is frustrated about his love affair and also annoyed by his colleagues on the police force, whom he suspects of unclean business. More and more often he retreats into a hangar, where he tinkers with his old airplane and where his airport acquaintance Kitty also works. But then Chanli's discovers strange aerial shots, which connect Kitty with drug deals and murder. The melancholic Hal Challis hesitates, is torn back and forth until he has no choice: To prevent further misfortune, he must intervene.
