Product details

At the invitation of the Rhoxus Foundation, the narrator Joshua finds himself in Miami. There, he ends up in a smart apartment: money and astronaut food are delivered by a drone, the temperature is automatically regulated, and the refrigerator is his only conversation partner. The video game "Cloud Control" offers the only distraction, feeding in real-time from the gamers' data. At an NBA game, Joshua meets marine biologist Claire, and within a few weeks, they travel to Nassau, where Claire reveals to him that she is pregnant, but leaves open whether the child is his. "Flexing in Miami" is a love story that questions on multiple levels how we can know that we are present and how we can encounter each other: as humans or avatars, in life as well as in the cloud. In his long-awaited novel, Joshua Gross explores the various indentations, traps, glitches, and uncertainties in the reality we call our present.
