Fischland, Darss, Zingst

Compared to Usedom, Rügen, and Hiddensee, Fischland, Darss, and Zingst are still more of a hidden gem along Germany's Baltic Sea coast. It is not the glamorous seaside resorts that attract visitors to the peninsula located between Rostock and Stralsund. Small towns like Ahrenshoop, Wustrow, Born, or Prerow, which are not marred by oversized new constructions, often feature untouched nature, tranquility, and expansive sandy beaches that are not crowded with countless sunbathers – these elements give the region its unique character. In impressive photographs, Thomas Grundner, accompanied by the entertaining text of Bernd Siegmund, explores the landscape: the Darsser Ort with its lighthouse and the adjoining Natureum, the West Beach with its often bizarrely shaped windbreaks, the cheerfully colorful fishermen's cottages with their thatched roofs, and the vastness of the Bodden and the sea.
