FINMA-Bewilligung für Vermögensverwalter: Voraussetzungen und Herausforderungen

The Financial Institutions Act (FINIG) came into effect on January 1, 2020. Since the enactment of FINIG, asset managers are required to obtain a license. This thesis addresses the requirements and challenges of obtaining FINMA approval for asset managers. It focuses on the qualitative licensing requirements and the challenges, particularly in terms of organization and management, including ensuring proper business operations, as well as risk management and internal control. The possibility of outsourcing essential tasks is explained, using the outsourcing of the anti-money laundering specialist department as an example. An overview of future challenges and potential measures is included in the outlook for the Swiss asset management industry and for external compliance service providers.
