This modern textbook provides an easy introduction to the Finite Element Method (FEM) due to its detailed presentation, computer-based format, and numerous examples. After an introduction to the mathematical foundations, the author discusses the Ritz method and problems of elastostatics. He formulates the dynamic behavior of components as well as their stability behavior as an eigenvalue problem. In the field problems, he addresses topics such as heat transfer. Finally, he demonstrates the capabilities and applications of the computer-based learning software CALL_for_FEM. In this 5th edition, isoparametric elements are covered for the first time. The dynamics have been expanded to include elements such as disks and plates, and integrated into the learning software CALL_for_FEM.
