In the 1960s, John Rothstein published three famous novels, but he hasn't released anything since then. Morris Bellamy, a psychopathic admirer, murders the author out of rage over what he perceives as "betrayal." His loot consists of a large sum of money and a true treasure trove of notebooks, which also contain unpublished novels. Bellamy buries everything for the time being and foolishly ends up in prison for a completely different crime. Years later, a boy named Peter Saubers stumbles upon the "treasure." After his release from prison, Bellamy tracks down the unsuspecting Peter and hunts him down. Can Bill Hodges, whom we know as a retired detective from Mr. Mercedes, stop the madman?.
