From beyond the borders of our language come poets who stand up for the German language: Rilke, Karl Kraus, Kafka, Horváth, Canetti, Celan, and now this Elazar Benyoëtz, coming from a land, from a language that we will encounter, whether we want to or not. He speaks in our language, whose words fell asleep "when that world awoke," in which the murderers of his brothers and sisters called out their orders, and which continues to be spoken as a dead language.
